The Process Explanation

1. Hyperpigmentation is a result of abnormal melanocyte activity. Pigmentation happens in three key steps: pigment cells are activated, they start overproducing melanin, skin appears darker.

2. Tyrosinase inhibitors/Brightening products: works by interrupting the enzyme ‘Tyrosinase’, blocking the cells from overproducing melanin.

3. Skin Peels/exfoliants increase skin turnover and remove top layers of darker skin, improving the appearance of existing hyperpigmentation.

   Ps. This two-pronged approach by regulating pigment production alongside peeling the skin to remove excess pigment is an effective way of treating hyperpigmentation.

   Simply relying on exfoliation alone will not address the root cause of the problem. It’s like trying to empty the sink while the tap is still running!

BRIGHTENING PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ingredient Recommendations: Hydroquinone, Hexylresorcinol, Niacinamide, Arbutin, Licorice Root Extract, Tranexamic Acid (better for red marks on lighter skin tones).
In general, these products require around 2 months of consistent use to see visible results. Encourage clients to take before and after photos to track progress.

- Increase skin turnover, removing extra layers of skin, improving the appearance of existing hyperpigmentation.

Exfoliating ingredients assist in the removal of excess pigment granules. Effectively speeding up the renewal process through gentle but regular exfoliation.
